How mcrIT helped Kildare Road Medical Centre adapt during Covid-19

Since its opening in 2010, Kildare Road Medical Centre (KRMC) has been offering convenient on-site access to a wide range of high-quality medical services to the Blacktown community.

mcrIT started working with the team at KRMC in 2019 after they decided to move away from an existing provider. It was a difficult decision to switch companies – engaging a new provider can introduce uncertainty, and it was important to find a partner who understood the complexities of the business.

The engagement started as usual with an IT health check followed by a refresh of legacy IT equipment – and then Covid-19 changed everything. As knowledge of the coronavirus evolved, Australia’s response escalated and the number of patients requiring testing increased dramatically.

Clinic to Cloud

A dedicated respiratory clinic was set up in Mt Druitt to focus specifically on COVID-19 testing. Migration of applications and e-mail to the cloud ensures data is easily shared between sites.

Secure virtual appointments were made available for patients who could not be seen in person, ensuring vulnerable community members were not being overlooked.

With Microsoft 365 and Teams, it was easy to transition users to a remote work set up for staff to connect securely from anywhere.

The team grew from 60 to 70, with each new staff member easily added to existing services through flexible, scalable on-boarding. The ability to securely access the network, applications and documents has dramatically increased employee engagement, collaboration and performance.
